    Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar born on 24th April 1973 is an Indian cricketer extensively considered to be one of the greatest batsmen of all time. He is the leading run-scorer and century maker in Test and one-day international cricket. Sachin is the first player to score a double century in ODI cricket. In 2002, just 12 years into his career, Wisden ranked him the second greatest Test batsman of all time, behind Donald Bradman, and the second greatest one-day-international (ODI) batsman of all time, behind Viv Richards. Tendulkar was a part of the 2011 Cricket World Cup winning Indian team in the later part of his career. He is also a member of Rajya Sabha of Parliament of India.

    Born on 1st March 1980, Shahid Afridi is one of the renowned Pakistani cricketer. He is known for his aggressive batting style, also grips the record for the fastest ODI century made in his first international innings, as well as a score of 32 runs in a single over, the second highest scoring over ever in an ODI.     Michael Edward Killeen Hussey born on 27th May 1975 is an Australian cricketer, a left-handed specialist batsman. Hussey is also widely known by his nickname Mr. Cricket. Hussey was a relative latecomer to both the one-day international and Test Australian teams, debuting at 28 and 30 years of age in the respective formats, with 15,313 first-class runs before making his Test debut. However, he has had a highly successful international career, being the top-ranked ODI batsman in the world in 2006. He also plays in the Indian Premier League for the Chennai Super Kings, although he opted out of the 2009 season. He was retained by Chennai Super Kings in the 2011–2012 season of Indian Premier League for $425,000 at auctions held in January 2011.

He was just 17 years old, when he stepped in his cricketing career in November 1992. Ricky Ponting was specialized right-handed batsman, slips and close catching fielder, as well as a very occasional bowler. He is one of only three players in history who have scored 13,000 Test runs. He is the most successful captain of all time, with 48 victories in 77 Tests between 2004 and 31 December 2010, while as a player he is also the only cricketer in history to be involved in 100 Test victories.

He was named Australian of the Year in 2004 for his philanthropic work, and inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in front of his home fans at the Sydney Cricket Ground in January 2010.

He holds the records of being youngest Pakistani Test caption and the third youngest Test caption in test history (22 years 15 days), played 87 tests and 262 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for Pakistan during his career from 1989 to 2003. Younis’ trademark was his ability to reverse swing a cricket ball at high speed and took 373 test wickets and 416 One Day International wickets during his career.

    Krishnamachari Srikkanth born on 21 December, 1959 in a Brahmin family, is a former caption of the Indian cricketer team and the current chairman of the selection committee. He started his career as a cricketer at the age of twenty one as an opener of Indian team to partner Sunil Gavaskar. Srikkanth was a stylish opening batsman with a keen eye and sharp reflexes, allowing him to play aggressive attacking strokes. He was an integral member of the Indian squad when they won the 1983 Prudential World Cup and 1985 Benson & Hedges World Championship of Cricket. He was made the captain of the Indian team in 1989. He was the first Indian player to score a half-century and pick up 5 wickets in an ODI against New Zealand in 1988.

Warne played his first Test match in 1992, and took over 1000 international wickets in Tests and One-Day Internationals. As a lower-order batsman, Warne also scored over 3000 Test runs, and he holds the record for most Test runs without a century.

Gavaskar was admired for his technique against fast bowling, with a particularly high average of 65.45 against the West Indies. His captaincy of the Indian team, however, was less successful.

Jayasuriya is the only player to score more than 13,000 runs and capture more than 300 wickets in One Day Internationals and is considered as one of the best all rounders in the history of Limited overs cricket. He got retired from test cricket in December 2007 and from ODI in June, 2011, both were his last match against England Cricket Team.

He started his career by playing in state and school teams. Currently, he is the 5th highest run scorer in One Day Internationals and was the 3rd person in history to cross the 10,000 run landmark, after Sachin Tendulkar and Inzamam Ul Haq. Wisden ranked him the sixth greatest one day international batsman of all time, next to Viv Richards, Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Dean Jones and Michael Bevan.

    Born on 14th November 1971, Adam Gilchrist is an Australian International cricketer. He is an attacking left-handed batsman and record-breaking wicket-keeper, who redefined the role for the Australian national team through his aggressive batting. He is considered to be one of the greatest wicket-keeper-batsmen in the history of the game. He holds the world record for the most dismissals by a wicket keeper in One Day International cricket and the most by an Australian in Test cricket. He is the only player to have hit 100 sixes in Test cricket. He holds the unique record of scoring at least 50 runs in successive World Cup finals (in 1999, 2003 and 2007) and is one of only three players to have won three titles. Gilchrist is renowned for walking when he considers himself to be out, sometimes contrary to the decision of the umpire.

Brett Lee also plays for Kolkata Knight Riders, who won the IPL season five against Chennai Super Kings. On 13 July 2012, he retired from all forms of international cricket after a calf injury cut short his tour of England with Australia’s One-Day International team. Lee will continue to play in the Indian Premier League and the Big Bash League Twenty20 competitions.

    Muttiah Muralitharan born 17th April 1972, often referred to as Murali, is a former Sri Lankan cricketer who was rated the greatest Test match bowler ever by Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack in 2002. He retired from Test cricket in 2010, registering his 800th and final wicket on 22 July 2010 from his final ball in his last Test match. Muralitharan is the highest wicket-taker in both Test cricket and in One Day Internationals. Muralitharan became the highest wicket-taker in Test cricket when he overtook the previous record-holder Shane Warne on 3 December 2007. Muralitharan had previously held the record when he surpassed Courtney Walsh’s 519 wickets in 2004, but he suffered a shoulder injury later that year and was then overtaken by Warne.

Hayden holds the record for the highest score made by an Australian batsman in Tests (380).     Born on 23 November 1967, a former South African cricketer, and the World Cup winning coach of the Indian cricket team. He played 101 Test matches and 185 One-day internationals for South Africa between 1993 and 2004, mainly as an opening batsman. Gary Kirsten initiated his career against Australia in Melbourne in 1993. He retired from international cricket in 2004 after crafting a match-winning 76 in his final innings, against New Zealand. Against the same country he had made history by becoming the first ever to play in 100 Test matches. Kirsten held the South African records for most runs and centuries in a Test career. He was the first Test batsman to make hundreds against each of the other 9 Test nations.

    Virender Sehwag, born on 20th October 1978, affectionately known as Viru and the Nawab of Najafgarh, also called the Zen master of modern cricket, or the Viv Richards of this era by columnists, is one of the leading batsmen in the Indian cricket team. Sehwag is an aggressive right-handed opening batsman and a part-time right-arm off-spin bowler. He played his first One Day International in 1999 and joined the Indian Test cricket team in 2001. In April 2009, Sehwag became the only Indian to be honoured as the Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World for his performance in 2008, subsequently becoming the first player of any nationality to retain the award for 2009.
